EV charging
Level 1 or Level 2 — sized to your vehicle
Level 1 charging
120-volt, 3-pronged, plugs into a standard grounded wall socket. The slowest method but the most versatile — every EV or hybrid is compatible, and it puts the lowest load on your panel. Best for overnight charging.
Level 2 charging
240-volt operation, roughly twice as fast as Level 1 and adding about 25 miles of range per hour of charge. Vehicle compatibility is required, and it's the option most often used in commercial settings.
Panel upgrades
Signs you might need a panel upgrade
Frequent tripped breakers
Breakers tripping often can mean your panel is overloaded for what it's now being asked to run.
An outdated panel
Most homes built before 2000 have a 100-amp panel; the current standard is 200 amp. Some older homes still run on fuse boxes.
Flickering or dimming lights
Can indicate an overloaded electrical system that a panel upgrade would give the capacity to fix.
Appliances underperforming
Appliances not running at full capacity, or malfunctioning outright, can point back to an inadequate panel.

Electrical FAQ
Common questions
How do I know if I need a panel upgrade?
Frequent tripped breakers, an outdated 100-amp panel or fuse box, flickering lights, and appliances that underperform are the common warning signs. Jon can assess your panel's capacity on site.
What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2 EV chargers?
Level 1 runs on a standard 120-volt outlet and works with any EV or hybrid, but charges slowly — good for overnight. Level 2 runs on 240 volts, charges roughly twice as fast, and needs vehicle compatibility.
